Macron Promotes Clean Electricity-Powered Artificial Intelligence at AI Summit

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday (10/2) that France is in the race in the world of artificial intelligence and asked participants at the AI ​​Action Summit in Paris to choose Europe for their business needs.

Clean electricity sets France apart from other countries in addressing the issue of AI's high energy consumption, he said.

“My good friends across the ocean say ‘go ahead, keep digging.’ Here, it’s not about digging, it’s about ‘go ahead, keep plugging,’” Macron said, referring to Trump’s slogan, ‘ drill, baby, drill ,’ to encourage mining in the US.

World leaders and tech entrepreneurs gathered in the French capital to discuss how to safely embrace artificial intelligence amid growing opposition to heavy-handed bureaucracy, which businesses say is stifling innovation.

The desire to curb AI has faded since previous AI summits in the UK and South Korea, which focused the world's major powers on the risks of the technology following the viral launch of ChatGPT in 2022.
